Warwickshire, Middlesex extend unbeaten run

NORTH GROUP

Warwickshire v Durham

Chris Benjamin top-scored for Warwickshire with an unbeaten 68 to help the side overcome Durham by five wickets at Edgbaston. Warwickshire overhauled the target of 159 in the 17th over. For Durham, Paul Coughlin cracked a fine hand of 40 while Henry Brookes snared a three-wicket haul. In fact, Warwickshire had found themselves in early trouble at 36 for 4. Leicestershire v Yorkshire

Colin Ackerman and Rishi Patel were the architects of Leicestershire’s 31-run victory over Yorkshire. Yorkshire could muster only 157 to Leicestershire’s 188/7. At 51 for 4, Leicestershire were in all kinds of trouble. At that juncture, Ackerman and Patel joined forces to put their side back on track with a 109-run stand. Lower down the order, Ben Mike also made a decent contribution (16) to take the side to a competitive total. In the chase, Dawid Malan constructed a fine 50 but that wasn’t enough to challenge the opponent’s target. Naveen-ul-Haq snared a four-wicket haul while Mike scalped three wickets.

Lancashire v Worcestershire

Tim David continued his good form in the shortest format with a breezy 25-ball 60 and Richard Gleeson backed it up with a five-wicket haul to ensure Lancashire’s 12-run victory against Worcestershire. Lancashire accumulated 183 for 7 in their allotted overs with Worcestershire scoring 171 for 8. Patrick Brown was the chief wicket-taker for Worcestershire and picked up a three-for In fact, Worcestershire were in the hunt at 152 for 3 but lost Colin Munro and Jake Libby in quick succession and that turned out to be the final turning point of the game.

Middlesex v Glamorgan

Jack Cracknell and Max Holden accrued useful 40s with Toby Roland-Jones snaring a four-for to power Middlesex to a four-wicket victory against Glamorgan. On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne top-scored for Glamorgan with 38. Despite losing a few wickets in the slog overs, Middlesex were on course for most of the game. Prem Sisodiya took two wickets for Glamorgan.

Brief scores: Glamorgan 168 in 20 overs (Toby Roland 4-22) lost to Middlesex 172/6 in 19 overs (Jack Cracknell 47; Prem Sisodiya 2-26) by four wickets.

Sussex v Kent

Sussex held their nerve to down Kent in a hard-fought contest in Hove by just 4 runs. Kent ended up with 167 in pursuit of 172. Tom Alsop was the top-scorer for Sussex with 65* with Luke Wright accumulating a useful 43. Meanwhile, Ravi Bopara and Steven Finn took two wickets each. On the other hand, Kent needed as many as 27 in the last over but despite George Linde cracking two sixes and a boundary, they fell short. Linde aggregated 38 off only 13 balls while Joe Denly compiled 33.

Brief scores: Sussex 171/5 in 20 overs (Tom Alsop 65*; Qais Ahmed 2-23) beat Kent 167/7 in 20 overs (George Linde 38*; Ravi Bopara 2-23) by four runs.

Somerset v Essex

In a rain-reduced 18-over-a-side contest, Somerset were successful in chasing down the target of 144 to seal a six-wicket win against Essex. Matthew Critchley topped the batting chart for Essex, finishing with a 38-ball 60, while Marchant de Lange bagged a four-for for Somerset. In the chase, Will Smeed and Rilee Rossouw struck fifties to put their side on course. Eventually, Tom Lammonby and Lewis Gregory gave the finishing touches as Somerset overhauled the target in 14.4 overs.
